DESERT ENGAGEMENT PHOTOS

When Emilee and Taylor and I started talking about their engagement shoot, we knew pretty quickly that we wanted to do something a little bit more . Something a little bigger, something a little more of an adventure. We wanted to do a few more formal, rich, indoor images, but we also wanted to make something that reflected the beauty of the Pacific Northwest, too. So we did both. Why settle, right?

Hours of location scouting (thanks Google maps) gave us a final destination in the beautiful Columbia Gorge in central Washington. Getting in the car and wandering there led us to more spots than we could have hoped or planned for. There's so much to be said for just getting inspired, and letting your eyes guide you wherever you want to go. That's hands-down my favorite way to shoot.

This shoot is exactly the kind of collaboration that I love to bring to life with my couples. It makes all the difference in the world when people get excited about making amazing photos, and invest their time and energy into it. I'm thankful for people who get that and live for that, and who trust me enough to hop in the car and just explore.

You can find more of this shoot, and some words from the couple, featured on Green Wedding Shoes

And a big 'thank you' to the amazing Rachel of Finch & Thistle Events for the bouquet.

Shot primarily on Kodak Portra 160 & 800 film, scanned by the always on-point Indie Film Lab.
